On Wednesday we took the car out to the coastal town of Bucalemu. It was just over an hours drive to cover the distance which was about a third of Chile’s width. We followed the coastal road south for some time before turning around and returning to Santa Cruz.
Thursday started with horseback riding. We went to one of the Estancias outside Santa Cruz and got to traverse the vinyard with one of South Americas top horse polo players. In the afternoon we packed up and drove back up to Santiago. Except for a small incident where we thought we were going to run out of petrol everything went fine. We stayed at the Four Points by Sheraton in the Eastern part of Santiago. We did a lot of walking this afternoon, and we took the cable car up to the St Christobal hill with a huge Virgin Mary statue overlooking the city.
Friday morning we got up early, drove to the airport and caught our flight to Tierra del Fuego (Land of Fire) also called "the End of the World", at the Southern tip of the content. Our destination was Ushuaia, known as the jump off point for expeditions to Antarctica.
