I am thinking about organizing a “small” dual sport adventure the weekend 10 days from now. I think it would be fun to get some of the GS riders out (+650cc bikes). I never see them out on the trail…

The itinerary would be something like this:

2010-04-30 Adventure Riders Challenge 002 Saturday Sept 25th:

  • 7:30am, meet at North Bend Safeway to gas up.
  • 8:00 mount up and ride to Lion Rock (East of Liberty, North of Ellensburg) and set camp at the camp ground.
  • 10:00am – noon: do some clinics on the flats not far from the campground
  • Afternoon: ride to Yakima and back on (90%) gravel
  • Evening: more clinics around the camp fire

Sunday Sept 26th:

  • Morning: explore around Lion Rock. Different difficulty levels are available.
  • Mid-day: do some of the difficult tracks
  • Afternoon: ride back

Some other thoughts:

  • Hauling bikes there is not an option. This is about 1) riding to the adventure, 2) doing the adventure, and 3) riding home.
  • I would love to get 8-15 people together.
  • I want to break in my new knobby rear tire before I put the studded tires on the rims, and they close several off-road areas on 10/10/2010.
