We started the day at 3:00am (!) to catch the flight from Lima to Cusco. We are now up in the Andes mountain ranga. Peru has many thousand histories to tell about the people who originally lived in Peru and the changes that arrived with the Spaniards in the 1500’s. Most famous to the outside world is Machu Piccu, the lost city of the Incas, perching on a mountain top in the Andes. Rediscovered 1911, it is now a symbol for Peru. This is actually the main destination for our vacation. A place both Kay and I have wanted to visit for many years. However as we are getting closer, we learn that Machu Piccu is really the tip of an iceberg, and that the Incas was only the last in many generations of cultures.

We landed in Cusco at 6:30am and were met by representatives from our hotel, who quickly whisked us up to the hotel. After buying train tickets for Machu Piccu,we decided to rent a taxi who took us further up in the mountains to some very interesting sites. See the pictures in the library!

Tomorrow we need to start breakfast at 4:30am to catch our 6:00 am train. Really looking forward to it. Machu Piccu that is, not getting up early.
