Server and desktop virtualization are two of the hottest areas in the data center, drawing the attention of IT managers. When something gets this much attention it is easy to forget that new technologies also introduce new challenges. In this blog I specifically hone in on the role of storage, how storage is implemented and managed.

I am in particular interested in exploring how to use storage virtualization to create an active, transparent virtualization layer across disk storage devices. While I aim at being neutral in my investigation, I am starting out with exploring DataCore Software’s solution SANsymphony-V.
